Who runs GroupHug

GroupHug is run by Dave Phillips, a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada. Contact: [email protected].

What GroupHug collects

  • Your email address (you provide it to sign in)
  • Your name and profile photo, if you sign in with Google
  • The videos and photos you upload, and any metadata you add
  • Pairing tokens for any TV you connect
  • Records of which family circles you belong to
  • Subscription state (which plan you're on, whether it's active), kept in sync with Square

What GroupHug doesn't collect

  • No cross-site tracking
  • No data sold, ever
  • No ads or recommendation algorithms
  • No sharing of content outside your family circle
  • No credit card storage; Square handles card details on grouphug.tv

Where your data lives

  • Account data and metadata in Supabase (hosted on AWS in the United States)
  • Video and photo files in Cloudflare R2, distributed globally
  • Subscription payments processed by Square on grouphug.tv. The Roku channel is free, so no payment data ever touches your TV.

Who can see your content

  • The people in your family circles, on their phones and TVs
  • Nobody else by default
  • The operator (Dave Phillips), for technical support, abuse moderation, or a legal request. Never for browsing or marketing.

Your rights

To see what GroupHug holds about you, or to delete your account, email [email protected]. Response within seven days.

EU and UK residents have GDPR rights of access, rectification, and erasure. California residents have CCPA rights of access and deletion; since GroupHug never sells personal data, the opt-out right does not apply.

Cookies

One cookie holds your sign-in session. No tracking cookies, no analytics, no third-party scripts.

Children

GroupHug is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information. Adults who upload videos featuring children are responsible for those videos.
