Terms of Service

GroupHug is run by Dave Phillips, a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada. Contact: [email protected].

A service for sharing family videos and photos privately with the people you invite to your circle. Content shows up on the TVs they have paired (Roku today, more platforms over time) and in the web app at grouphug.tv.

• Keep your sign-in secure; it's how you reach your circles.
• One account per person is the intent. No shared logins.
• Delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected].

• You own everything you upload.
• You give GroupHug permission to store, transcode, and display your content to the people you have invited to your circles.
• You confirm you have the right to share what you upload. You took it yourself, or have permission from whoever did.

• Illegal content of any kind.
• Content depicting minors in any sexualized way. GroupHug reports this to the relevant authorities.
• Hateful, harassing, or threatening content.
• Spam, automated abuse, or attempts to overwhelm the service.
• Attempts to access content outside your own circles, or to bypass the security model.

Accounts that violate these rules may be suspended or terminated.

• GroupHug is free right now, before the paid launch.
• The Roku channel is free, with no signup or payment on the TV.
• Paid plans (Family vault and Family archive, both yearly) live only on grouphug.tv. Billing is arranged directly with GroupHug — no card details are collected on the site today.
• To change or cancel a plan, reply to any GroupHug email. There is no Roku-side billing to manage.

GroupHug aims for high uptime but doesn't guarantee it. Scheduled maintenance will happen from time to time. Features may be added, changed, or discontinued with reasonable notice.

GroupHug is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, GroupHug and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. On termination, account data is deleted within thirty days. You can request a copy of your data before that deletion completes.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia.

Material changes to these terms get emailed to registered users. Continued use of GroupHug after a change means you accept it.
